A two-time All-Northwest Conference First Team selection with another All-NWC Second-Team pick, Crystal Castle started 85 of 99 career games and missed just one game her entire career. She became the seventh Pioneers women's team member to score 1,000 career points and is third on the all-time scoring list (1,267 points). Castle earned Most Valuable Player at the Colorado College Thanksgiving Classic in 2007. At the time of nomination, she is the all-time leader in free-throw percentage at 78.4 (249 of 370).
Crystal quickly put her Biology degree to work after graduation, working on fish and habitat investigations for a large-scale mining project in Alaska. Afterward, Castle traveled to Happy Camp, Calif. and volunteered for an AmeriCorps positiong and hiked through the wilderness doing trout surveys. Soon to follow, she found her self back to where she grew up and began working for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in Lodi, Calif. There, she did waht she loved by being on a boat all day squeezing fish. Her passion for outdoors and adventure soon continued as she took a Surface Water Quality Program position in Idaho Falls, Idaho.Crystal’s next adventure was not one that she expected. While in eastern Idaho, she suffered a massive stroke in May 2018. Since then, she has made her way back to California and found herself surpassing the expectations of doctors and therapists and continues to live her life to the fullest. She has recently traveled to Michigan for month-long, intensive therapy to advance her speech. In addition, she currently volunteers at University of Pacific in Stockton, Calif. for their speech program as well as at Sacramento State for their physical therapy program and allows students to work with her and receive additional therapy. Crystal’s determination continues to be an inspiration to everyone.
