As a four-year letterman in track and cross country, Fix set school records in the two-mile, three-mile, and steeplechase. He was a two-time NWC and NAIA District 2 champion, set Conference three-mile and District steeplechase records, and never finished lower than second in four years of district competition over four distance events. He was a two-time NWC and NAIA District 2 cross country champion, a District 2 All-Star all four years, and was the track and cross country captain as a senior.
