Sempert was a three-year letterman and two-time First-Team All-Northwest Conference in basketball, Honorable Mention All-American during his senior year. He was the captain of the 1948-49 team, the first ever to win a NWC championship for L&C. he was the leading scorer as a junior and senior and had a career scoring average of 11.7 per game. In addition, he was a three-year letterman in golf who helped organize the golf program at the College.
