A four-year letter winner in basketball, Pollard was a NAIA All-American Honorable Mention as a senior. He was twice named to the All-Northwest Conference team and led the Pioneers in scoring as a senior, averaging 20.1 points per game. As a junior, he averaged 16.1 points and 10 rebounds. He played on two NWC championship teams, and was a member of 1971-72 team that went to the NAIA championship tournament in Kansas City.
Pollard has lived in Cottage Grove since 1981 working as a teacher, coach, athletic director and administrator at Cottage Grove HS. He retired as Principal in June of 2010 but continues to coach the boys basketball team. Pollard stays busy in retirement, with the coaching, volunteering, working around the house, traveling, keeping up with 11 grandchildren, and golf.
