Woodard has signed his name into the Lewis & Clark record books in three different decades. He finished among the top ten cross country runners in the Northwest Conference 1968-70, and finished ninth in District II in 1968 and fifth in 1971. Both the 1968 and 1971 teams won the NAIA District II championships. During his second tour at L&C, Woodard won the NCIC track and field 5,000 meter in 1988. He was the NAIA District II champion in the 10,000 and 5,000 in 1988. His fifth place finish at nationals in the 10,000 earned him a spot on the NCAA All-American team in 1989.
