Active from 1980-1983 • Inducted in 2016
Mary Kay Plass both competed and coached for the Pioneers. She was selected All-Conference First-Team and NAIA District III First-Team in 1983, repeating the latter in 1984. Plass, who also competed in volleyball all four years, led softball in hitting and at-bats in 1983 and at-bats, runs scored and sacrifices in 1984. Later, Plass coached the Pios for three seasons and finished with a 29-38 record.
Mary Kay recently took the opportunity to move to Bend, Ore. in July and is enjoying the outdoor living and many days of sunshine that Central Oregon has to offer. After Lewis & Clark, she spent five years teaching at Oregon Episcopal School and a short time in the Portland Public Schools. During that time, she also coached several different sports, including softball at Lewis & Clark. In the years after teaching, she moved into a career in Supply Chain Management, mainly focused on Procurement and has been in that field ever since. She feels that both careers were made possible by the overall valuable time spent and experiences gained at Lewis & Clark College.
