Cochran led the 1981 and 1982 Pioneer basketball teams in scoring, averaging 20.6 pts. in 1981. He was selected to the First-Team All-Conference in 1980 and 1981. His career finished with an average of 14.7 points per game and is among Lewis & Clark’s finest on the all-time scoring list. He was a four-year letter winner, and the 1978 and 1979 teams participated in the District 2 playoffs. He was also selected to NAIA All-District teams in 1980 and 1981. Following his career on Palatine Hill, Cochran was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers and, as a result, was invited to the Blazers’ rookie camp.
