Woods was a two-year letterman in track & field, making his mark when he finished third in the 200m at the NAIA National Championships as a senior. He won the Northwest Conference crowns in both sprints his senior year, and set L&C records in the 100 meters (10.6), 200 meters (21.34), and as a member of 4x100 meter relay team. He was undefeated in the 100, 200, and long jump as a junior until an injury ended his season.
